COUNTING CALM - THE ART OF MEDITATING WITH MALA BEADS

Bring Your Own Guru Bead! 🌟

For the november retreat: As we explore meditation practice on the retreat, you will have the opportunity to make your own mala beads. (there will be a few already created for anyone not keen)

If you feel you would like to make your mala more personal or meaningful, i invite you to bring your own guru bead, or even a bag of beads if you want to personalise your mala.

(It's optional. I have plenty of beads here.)

What Are Mala Beads and How Do You Use Them in Meditation?

Mala beads are necklaces or bracelets often used in meditation. They can be made from various materials like wood, seeds, or gemstones. Using mala beads in your meditation can help you stay focused and connected to your practice. Whether you're new to meditation or have been at it for a while, mala beads can bring a sense of peace and intention to your sessions.

What is a Guru Bead?

At the end of the mala, you’ll find a larger bead known as the guru bead.

This bead can mark the end of a cycle of meditation, help maintain your focus and concentration, or hold special significance.

The guru bead can carry different meanings depending on your personal beliefs and experiences. Many people choose a guru bead that resonates with their journey, whether it reminds them of a cherished memory, a significant person in their life, or an important lesson learned.

For some, it represents a teacher or mentor who has influenced their path, serving as a way to honour that connection.

If you’re not into the spiritual side, that’s perfectly fine! You can choose a bead simply because you like how it looks, pick one with sentimental value from a trip or a gift, or select a stone that brings you comfort or inspiration, enhancing your meditation experience.
